Third Enhanced Satellite Image . In this image, you can clearly see the Isle of Sheppey and Swale estuary. Further eastwards along the Thames estuary is Whitstable, Herne Bay and Margate. Following the coast round and south into the English Channel, we pass Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Deal was the favoured landing site during the first Roman invasions. As the coastline turns south-westwards, the harbour wall of Dover can be seen. A short distance from Dover is Folkestone and Hythe.
