| Another
photograph of the outer castle wall and moat. As far as I can calculate,
this is not a deliberately constructed moat, but one which has developed
over the years naturally, due to land drainage. This photograph was taken
under the bridge of the photograph below |
| This
is the main entrance to the inner castle. This photograph gives a good
indication of the different styles of brickwork and repairs that have been
undertaken over the centuries. The drainage from the moat flows under the
bridge and to a small stream which I am standing next to in the photograph
below. |
| This
side of the castle faces the sea and gives a good impression of where the
sea would have reached during the 11th century before being reclaimed as
farm land. |
