Manor

Existed in late Anglo Saxon England and beyond. An area of land held by a lord split into two or more parts. Usually the larger part is kept by the lord for his own personal needs and the rest farmed by his subjects. In return for the land, his subjects either supplied the lord with their labour or gave money from any farming profit.
