Ruler of Gwynedd ( part of Wales ). With Penda, the ruler of Mercia, he formed an alliance to defeat Edwin the Northumbrian leader at the battle of Hatfield Chase in 632. He continued to ransack Northumbria until being killed by Oswald, Edwin's successor in 633 near Hexham.
