Aethelbert

King of Kent ( 560 - 616 ). First Anglo Saxon king to be converted to Christianity in 597. He was married to a Christian Frankish princess named Bertha. His wife, a Christian, was the deciding factor that led St Augustine to start his conversion mission in Kent. Kent was the first kingdom to become Christian. It became the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury or Primate of all England.
